GODAE is sponsored by
GODAE Symposia
The first GODAE symposium "En route to GODAE" was held in Biarritz, France in June 2002 and focused on the GODAE strategy. The plan was to discuss different aspects of the implementation of GODAE and to provide a forum for interaction between GODAE partners and scientists and the broader user community. The symposium was organized around different themes/sessions on GODAE components (from measurement networks to applications) and on the way they are interrelated and integrated.
A second GODAE symposium was held in St. Petersburg, Florida in November 2004 under the title “GODAE in operation: demonstrating utility”.
GODAE Symposium brought the scientific community, developing GODAE capacity and products together with the existing and potential users and exploiters of those products. Based on the developers' knowledge of capability and potential, and the users' views of what is useful and valuable, its aim was to develop specific actions to better attune GODAE to the needs of the user community, enabling that community to assess the extent to which GODAE is relevant to them.

The third GODAE symposium was held in Beijing, China in October 2006 and focused on “Ocean data assimilation and prediction in Asia-Oceania”. GODAE prediction systems for the Asia-Oceania region are being actively developed. Capitalising on these developments, GODAE has been organizing the symposium to address key technical issues and to enhance the interaction of GODAE system developers and product users, especially in the Asia and Oceania regions.
