GODAE Summer School

The 1st GODAE summer school was held in September 2004 in France. It focused on "An integrated view of oceanography: Ocean Weather Forecasting in the 21st century”.

One objective of the school was to motivate the young scientists and professionals who will be the principal developers and users of operational oceanographic outputs in the next 10 years. It was considered timely, given the international context, to bring together leading scientists to summarise the current knowledge in ocean modeling, ocean observing systems, and data assimilation to present an integrated view of oceanography. In addition to formal lectures, shorter talks by experts in the field exposed the participants to a wide range of applications.

A 2nd GODAE Summer School is planned for January 2009. More information will be available shortly.
